A Message from Inglewood Council of PTA

For our children, school is as much about learning the basics of arithmetic and grammar as it is about learning the important skills that aren’t measured on a state test: how to be thoughtful about approaching challenges, how to be a positive contributor to a group, and how to figure out their place in the world.

And these same lessons our children work on daily are ones we get to continue to work on as a part of our local school’s parent organization. As lifelong learners, we’ll never have all of the answers and will wrestle with figuring out our place in this world and how to best develop and share our gifts. This planet can feel messy and complicated at times. And yet, when we can contribute a small piece towards a successful event or see the smiles on our students’ faces as they head off on a field trip bus that PTA has funded, we can feel a little more at ease that our time is of value and energy well spent.

PTA affords the opportunity to build a network of like-minded caregivers, committed to working for the benefit of each and every child at our schools and beyond. It provides us with challenges that help strengthen our leadership skills, open ourselves to new perspectives and gives us an opportunity to meet some truly incredible human beings who serve from a place of love. PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Our Inglewood PTAs have grown a great deal in the past few years, overcoming challenges - together. We have schools that have 100% of their teachers as PTA members and ones where PTA has banded together to build playgrounds, fund arts programs, and work to get the message out that there are some great things happening in Inglewood schools and more will come as we continue to work as a team. PTA is you, it’s me, it’s all of us from all parts of our city, from all walks of life. We’re building a PTA that pulls all Inglewood schools together to learn from one another and share in the joys and the struggles of doing our part to ensure a strong future for all of our kids.
