November is traditionally a time of giving thanks and the beginning of a season of reflection for many of us in Inglewood Unified we have much to be thankful for this year across the district we're seeing the strongest academic achievement growth since before the pandemic this growth not only reflects improved test scores but renewed confidence our students outperform the County of Los Angeles as a whole this past year our cell phone free schools effort is paying dividends Educators and parents are reporting improved student engagement and students are spending more time talking and socializing at the same time some of our families are fearful of the impact of ice activity in and around our community our students and families are living through a time when they're exposed to a lack of Civility I want to take this opportunity to remind you that as a school district we are committed to creating School environments that are respectful free from disruptions at our safe staff members students parents and members of the community have a right to expect mutual respect Civility and orderly conduct on our campuses as we enter this season of thanks I want to close by thanking you for your support of our schools and staff members together we can build a better future for Englewood students and for our community
